Welcome!

I'm glad you found us! On this page we will keep you up to date on Phil's speaking engagements, book signings, and interviews.

We also hope that you will contribute your questions and comments to the discussion. Phil has written a book like no other -- not only about the scandal of the abuse of children by priests, but of the history of the Catholic Church in Boston and the effect that history has had on today's headlines.

In addition, Phil has probed the still open wound of the bishops' dereliction of duty -- and the effect their betrayal has had on the faithful.

What do you think? Have you read the book? Do you agree with Phil? Do you have questions you'd like to ask him? We look forward to hearing from you!

What most intrigued me about the book was the way Phil traced the gradual erosion of the Church's influence.

I did read the book although I knew in advance pretty much what it would say.

The church is made up of sinners, even in the highest offices. But I still cannot fathom the deliberateness of the shuffling of criminal pedophiles around. You would think that someone who cares for souls would be so outraged that at least they would have the perpetrator defrocked. But mostly they just let the demonic abuse continue with impunity.

Hirelings when we need shepherds.

In the issue of the Boston Pilot the week before Phil "left" as its editor, there was a notice that the next issue would have an expose article about referrals of students at Boston College to abortion clinics by the BC health services office. The article never appeared, and Phil suddenly "disappeared" as the editor.

Did Archdiocesan authorities "spike" the article either at BC's request or as a "courtesy" so as not "embarrass" BC? Was that article a or the cause of Phil's "departure" from the Pilot?

The Faithful Departed is a masterful work. Meticulous research is matched by spot-on analysis. Phil's conclusions, are, I believe, correct, and this is a tragedy. The Roman Catholic Church will survive until Christ comes again. Sadly, the American dioceses may one day become titular sees of future auxiliary bishops.

Anonymous, that story was spiked by my publisher. But to keep the historical record straight, the incident occurred some time before my departure from the Pilot. It was not the cause for my dismissal.
